Upgrade Procedure

Hardware preparation

• Computer: A PC running Windows 7 (or later) or a Mac running macOS 10.13 (or later) is required.
• Connection: Make sure you have an active internet connection.
• Cable: Use the high-speed USB-C data cable supplied with the Vortex.
• Battery: Fully charge the metal detector before starting the process.

Software installation

• Download and install the Garrett Update Installer from the Garrett website.
• Launch the application and sign in with your Garrett account.
• Power on the Vortex and connect it to the computer using the USB-C cable.
• Click "Launch Scan" to allow the software to detect the device.
• Once detected, click "View Device Details".
• Select the upgrade (e.g. VX7 to VX9) and click "Purchase".
• You will be redirected to your profile page on Garrett.com, where you can click "Redeem your upgrade code".
• Enter the code purchased on DetectorShop.
• Proceed with installing the purchased upgrade using the Garrett Update Installer.
