What Are the Advantages of a Metal Detector with Simultaneous Multi-Frequency?
Common single-frequency metal detectors transmit, receive and analyze signals using, as the name suggests, only one frequency chosen by the manufacturer according to the specific characteristics intended for the model.
Detectors designed for searching large objects will most likely use a low frequency (3–5 kHz), while, for example, coin hunting metal detectors typically operate at an intermediate frequency (7–15 kHz). Machines specifically designed for small gold nuggets may use a high frequency (30–60 kHz).
Some recently developed detectors allow the user to select one frequency from a set (usually 3 or 4 frequencies ranging from low to high), making it possible to optimize the device according to specific needs. These detectors are generally referred to as Selectable Multi-Frequency.
Their limitation is that it becomes the responsibility of the detectorist to choose the most suitable frequency, while it is not possible to know in advance what types of targets are buried in the ground.
This is where the best solution comes from detectors that use Simultaneous Multi-Frequency! These machines are capable of transmitting, receiving and analyzing 2 or more (sometimes dozens!) frequencies SIMULTANEOUSLY!
Buried targets are therefore analyzed by low, medium and high frequencies automatically, quickly and efficiently, providing the best possible detection and identification capability compared to single-frequency or selectable multi-frequency models.
Additionally, Simultaneous Multi-Frequency detectors are highly effective at reducing interference caused by mineralization, whether ferrous or saline.
