The stream still amazes: after the gun also emerges the magazine

After the sensational discovery of an old gun, Marcello Bonatti of Metal Discovery has returned to the "scene of the crime". Always "armed" with his powerful magnet, with the precious support of one of his collaborators, he decided to carry out a new inspection on the Pezzino Bridge (in the municipality of Villanova sull'Arda) for another exciting magnetic fishing session.

The first research on the river that passes under the bridge built in 1912 in the heart of the lower Piacenza had given a series of exciting surprises. In addition to old hinges, tin cans, coins and rusty nails, Marcello had in fact, with his magnet The Terror complete with his hook, "fished" a Beretta 34, manufactured in 1940, a post-war weapon supplied to the Italian Army and - until the '80s - also to the Carabinieri.

Regularly delivered to the Command of the Carabinieri Station of Villanova sull'Arda, the gun had been cleaned from rust and, with the serial number finally visible, sent for all ballistic investigations to the RIS (Special Investigation Unit) of Parma. .

Waiting for the results, which will have to examine the "rifling" of the barrel to verify that the weapon is not linked to specific crimes, in the second phase of research, the river once again did not betray the expectations and, attached to the magnet The Easy Magnetar, remained the missing magazine of that gun.

That's right, a short distance from the first discovery, in addition to several metal parts, including the hinges of an ancient door, Marcello found the removable ammo magazine of the Berretta 34. A sign that those who decided, now ten years ago, to get rid of that weapon, before throwing it into the river, prudently removed the magazine although it was unarmed, that is, without bullets.
